Feng Shui: The Influence Of The Home On Our Well-being

Feng Shui: the influence of the home on our well-being

We constantly seek wellness in all aspects of our lives. With that purpose also, we build and decorate our homes, although sometimes we do not obtain the expected result. Feng Shui may have some answers to help us.

Sometimes it happens that there are places where we do not feel like being and spaces where we do not enjoy. We can inhabit homes in which we are not quite comfortable and that coincide with the appearance of problems in our lives … Why does this happen?

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is an ancient discipline originating in China. Its objective is to favor the positive energy of our surroundings. For some it is an art and for others a science, what is certain is that its application improves our quality of life.

Feng Shui studies how our surroundings affect us, the powerful influence that spaces have on our well-being and health. They are contemplated from the external elements (neighborhood, buildings, rivers, mountains …) to the elements that are inside the house (furniture, colors, locations of rooms …).

The vital energy or “Chi”

According to Chinese culture, everything that is part of the physical world is endowed with a “vital energy” called “Chi”.  E sta vital energy is also known as  “Ki”  or “Prana”, depending on the language and culture. In this sense, Feng Shui deals with making the most of the energy flow or the  “Chi” current.

As an essential condition,  energy needs orderly and clear spaces to flow freely. The ” Chi” moves in a similar way to the air that circulates around us. Its flow and directionality depends on the objects and shapes it finds in its path.

If the energy that enters the home flows harmoniously, it will positively nourish the spaces and their inhabitants. If, on the contrary, the energy is unbalanced, it will also generate imbalance in the people who inhabit the space. This lack of harmony generates nervousness, restlessness … damaging health and reducing vitality.

It is comforting to know that through the basic rules of Feng Shui, one can order and structure spaces, so that energy flows with harmony and brings balance in our lives.

Some general conditions for a Feng Shui home:

These are some of the general tips that enhance the Feng Shui of our spaces and that, in a simple way, we can easily put into practice:

  • Let sunlight into the house. Natural light is a generator of energy. Try not to have dark or closed spaces.
  • Have the walls impeccable in their painting and wallpaper, avoiding all kinds of stains.
  • The decorations in the house should be positive, that we like or that they awaken feelings of pleasure.
  • Corridors must be clear of obstacles with good lighting. They must be easy to navigate.
  • We do not have to keep objects that we no longer use or that no longer serve us. As with gifts received that we have not really liked, it is better to get rid of them.
  • Have healthy plants to connect with the energy of the earth.
  • Periodically purify the house by burning incense. It is also recommended to place essences such as rosemary or lavender among others.

What should be avoided having in our homes

According to Chinese culture and Feng Shui, all objects have their own energy. All the furniture, decorations, appliances, walls, photos, plants … have ” Chi” . For this reason, it will be necessary to assess which objects can transmit good energy to us and which cannot. To do this, it is advisable to avoid:

  • Rugs made of wild animal skins, stuffed animals, etc.
  • Withered or dried flowers.
  • Clothing or footwear that is no longer used or that belongs to people who have died.
  • Weapons or ammunition collections (generate aggressive energy).
  • Pictures, posters or any image of pain, crying or drama.
  • Antique furniture or furniture of doubtful origin. Furniture accumulates and contains the energy of people, situations and places where it has been before.
  • Antique collections. Objects, like furniture, also contain an energetic record of where they have been and the owners who have owned them.
  • Objects (dishes, mirrors, …) and broken, old or damaged furniture. Our belongings represent what we think we deserve. A broken or aged item can represent, reproduce, or attract a lack of self-esteem, love, or prosperity.
  • Antique mirrors. Mirrors keep the “memory” of all the stories that have lived.
  • Electronic objects and devices that do not work or that work badly. They are elements without energy.

What is advisable to have at home?

Next, we are going to list a series of elements that will improve the energy that our home gives off:

  • Natural plants with a diversity of flowers and colors. Plants remove toxins from the air and balance the “Chi” in the home.
  • Domestic animals cared for and cared for. Chinese culture, with its animistic roots, has a very close relationship with animals as they are symbols of qualities such as strength, wisdom, longevity, fidelity, etc. According to Feng Shui, animals are healers and balance our home. They must be cared for with affection, taking care of their health. A sick animal may be warning of an imbalance in the house and will drain energy from its inhabitants.
  • Nice posters, pictures, images. .. that inspire us with positive emotions. Candles in warm and vivid colors.
  • Faceted glass spheres. Known as “rainbow spheres” or “Feng Shui balls”, they activate and regulate the energies of the place where they are placed.
  • Himalayan salt lamps. Each of the lamps is a unique work created by nature. They purify the air by neutralizing harmful waves emitted by mobile phones, electrical appliances, etc.
  • Fragrances of all kinds. They make the ” Chi” move throughout the environment. They must be used in moderation so that they do not oppress or stun.
  • Soft, instrumental music, sounds of nature, etc.

Taking care of our environment is taking care of ourselves

There is no doubt that our home is our temple. It is the place where after a day of work we recharge our energies, our ” energy headquarters “. It is the space where we receive the people we love, where we experience the most intimate and comforting moments with family and friends.

That is why it is important that this space is well balanced and with positive energy. In this sense, access to the knowledge of Feng Shui makes it available to everyone to inhabit a home in harmony. A space that favors our well-being and quality in all spheres of our life.
